Dramatic floral with a double-border and dotty center panel is printed in black on white mesh. Sheer, soft and drapey with lengthwise stretch, so cut on the crossgrain. Borders are 14" and the repeat is 8". This is a semi-sheer lightly textured mesh that can be used in a single layer over a cami, used in a double layer or lined for a simple top, dress, cardigan or T. I also use these sheers for sleeves, edgings and trims. 

Stitching over the open spaces in lace and mesh could cause problems. Totally Stable to the rescue. While you can use tissue paper or even computer paper, Totally Stable works like a charm because it is designed as a tear-away for machine embroiderers. It is a fusible too, but I ignore that entirely. One side has a light fusible and is slightly shiny, the other is matte. It comes in white and black. (On a side note, this works beautifully on knits to prevent waffling and rippling). It does not matter which side is up. I cut a batch into 1" strips, place on top of the area to be sewn and stitch away. On a long seam, just overlap the strips. Even works on curves. Curve or cut in sections to fit as Totally Stable is soft and a bit malleable. It tears away easily, does not get caught in the stitching, even tiny stitches, it sort of dissolves. If some remains in the stitches it is easy to pull out, which is not the case with other papers like computer paper or tissue paper.

Pre-treat by machine wash gentle and air dry, and do the same after sewing.

Chic and classic tone-on-tone gray checkerboard checks on a gorgeous light/mid-weight yarn dyed cotton/linen blend jacquard. Beautiful quality deadstock from Southern California designer Chalet et Ceci has a subtle smooth matte hand, muted linen glow, and supple drape. Just right for a shirt, light jacket, duster coat, vest, dress, skirt, loungewear or pants. Lovely quality, a beautiful basic linen that will work lined or unlined. Use either or both sides too! If you are making an unlined jacket or coat, I recommend lining the sleeves to prevent wrinkling and allow other garments to slip on/off easily. If making structured pants, I'd underline the front to the knee to prevent wrinkling. My favorite lining for linen is a rayon bemberg or rayon blend.

Pre treat by hand laundering or machine wash gentle and air dry. You can toss linen in the dryer if you want all over wrinkles, but always pre test a sample, some fabrics respond well, others not so well. Test Test Test. After laundering hand wash or machine launder gentle and air dry. I like to take my linens out of the laundry while still very wet, hang on a hanger and pull and smooth the seams and hems, allowing the weight of the water to do the work, then touch up with an iron or not.
